There are 24 hours in a single day, and we may encounter some cases where those 24 hours just don’t seem like enough time. A time will come one day for some of us where we have so much on our plate and getting everything done may seem impossible.

Simple little changes in how you approach work can have an incredible effect on your daily accomplishments. Incorporate these changes during the day and see how you will not only save precious time but also get more done.

This is the most basic and yet probably one of the most underutilized strategies that can enhance your time management and productivity. Make a daily schedule of what you need to get done during those measly 24 hours.

Stay committed to the schedule you created – refrain from altering times and dates of your deadlines.

Prioritize time sensitive tasks. Avoid pushing things off to the last minute. If you make a habit of procrastinating, you will fall behind. If you ever fall behind you have a good chance of overwhelming yourself when all other tasks pile up when you’re trying to catch up. Your quality of work will suffer too as a result.

Self-Determined Deadlines

No, this doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t abide by the deadlines set by your superiors. What self-determined deadline means is create your deadline that is ahead of what is required from you.

The artificial urgency you create for yourself will help get things done faster.

With this strategy, you will always stay ahead of schedule and stay determined to complete your tasks in a timely manner. If anything were to happen in your life such as an illness or family emergency, you will know that you have created a time buffer zone for yourself.

Don’t Be Afraid to Rest

Rest is very underappreciated in today’s society. It seems to me like now everyone is trying to compare and see who gets the least amount of sleep; this is highly damaging not only to your work but your overall health.

This might not even cross your mind when you’re in the middle of working. You want to avoid burning out at all costs. It will cause you to lose the passion you have and the drive that fuels your commitment.

Change Location

If you are able to, don’t be afraid to relocate yourself. Change of environment can have an immense benefit to your flow of ideas and productivity.

Being cooped up in one spot for too long will not only sap your energy but impede your work progress. In the long run, avoid spending too much time in one spot to really help increase your creativity and productivity.

Put Your Phone Away

Seriously, put your phone away. Treat yourself as if you are in school, where a teacher would scold you for pulling out your phone during class. The cell phone is a distraction and a huge time sink.

You may think a quick phone check is harmless, or that a simple response to a friends text won’t waste too much time, well you are wrong. Not only will you get distracted from the task at hand, it will hinder the flow work-related ideas.

Stay away from social media platforms that are unrelated to your work. Cat memes and funny videos will still be there when you’re done with your projects. Until then, they are a profound distraction.

Break Big Tasks Into Smaller Pieces

Turn your big projects into small victories. Don’t hesitate to break apart the big tasks you are asked to undertake. Doing a small piece at a time will not only boost your productivity but also enhance your morale.

It’s mentally a whole lot more satisfying to see yourself accomplish small feats than sit in front of a massive task feeling like you’re going nowhere. Do one small thing at a time and see how the seemingly never-ending task seems to just wither away.

Bring in Others on Board

Sometimes ‘me, myself, and I’ just won’t cut it. Not only is an extra set of hands helpful, a fresh perspective should always be welcomed.

Bringing someone new on board can spark a whole new thought process for you and can really get the creative gears turning. Bouncing off ideas one another will not only enhance your outlook but also enhance world flow.
